Men's Health Week 2010
Timely Reminder for Aussie Men:
Rural and Regional Health Minister Warren Snowdon recently captained a team made up of medical doctors from around the country, in a friendly match between the 'Doceroos' and the AFP, on the lawn outside Parliament House Canberra.
The Men's Health Week match, which the Doceroos won, in a penalty shootout, was a timely reminder in busy times, of the need to take time out for physical activity and connecting with others.
Sydney psychiatrist - and striker - Nick Rendina said the key message of men's health week was that blokes needed to be more proactive regarding their health.
"In particular, talk to your GP about prevention, physical illness and mental illness," Dr Rendina said.
Men should also try and exercise more, quit smoking and seek help if they were abusing drugs or alcohol, he said.smh article
